Brewing Ideas

4 Jul

I was browsing through my thoughts today when I called upon a long-lost dream to produce a modern adaptation to J.M.Barrie’s Peter Pan, encompassing issues of homelessness, neglect, escapism and hope. I started to write but, as usual I forgot to think while I was doing so, I was left with a pretty odd tale of mutation and greed. hooray. Anyway I decided to work with this new vision and use it as an *ideas notebook* in the lead up to writing and shooting Peter Pan.  I picked out the most important imagery and gave each image one word. So after about an hour I was left with a list of what seemed like totally random words and a shooting schedule. I’m going to be quite secretive about the story and I have reason to do so.. I want to collaborate with a writer who can take the list of words and write a short story or poem which can be played in time with my stop motion animation. though the stories will differ the imagery and words will link it all together.

I’m going to work on each word individually using the imagery I initially visualised, click on the words to view very short stop motion pieces. (ill add them as I do them!!)

A long, cold (and fun) day was spent, yesterday, filming the final part of A Whisper in Shallow Window, written by The Scrybe (see link in blog roll) and directed by Rich Watson. The film follows a girl as she wanders tentatively through a dream sequence. The above images are just a few examples of some of the photographs I took during filming, there are loads more to get through and I will post them up soon. The film is currently being edited and will be exhibited at the Usurp Art Gallery in July.
